My second attempt at designing a historical dress.
I like this one even better than my Rococo Gown, I think.

I wanted to go for an Edwardian style Tea Gown or Evening Gown and ended up with something that might be both, I'm not sure.
Edwardian is a term used to refer to the era from 1901-1914, even though British King Edward VII already died in 1910.
My inspiration was mostly taken from fashion plates of the late 1900s, early 1910s.
They really had gorgeous gowns during the Edwardian era. Just watch Titanic again and pay attention to the costumes, you'll see what I mean.

When I started, I already had a very clear vision of what I wanted it to look like instead of designing as I went along, like I did with the Rococo gown. I definitely wanted something pink and with roses.

And the whole time I listened to Émilie Simon's "Madame Rose Hybride de Thé".

Here are the other designs:

Gah, guh, um, *faints*.
Gorgeousness. Maybe I am listening to too much Dvorak right now, but I feel like sobbing, grabbing that dress out of your picture and dancing around in it. Really, I could cry because it is so simply beautiful. This marvellously soft pink (one of my favourite colours, oho, what a surprise!), this relatively simple, yet incredibly elegant and graceful design... it's perfect, you have totally captured the Edwardian look! And the roses are what make this little work into a feast for the eyes...they fit magnificently. Gnnn. ♥
And the lady is so pretty! :la: Gosh, I love her hair!! Ah, what can I say more? WONDERFULL!! :worship:

*gasp*
What a wonderful, wonderful commentary! Thank you so much for your kind words, it feels like my ego is getting a massage. I'm really glad you think I was able to accurately capture the spirit of the era. I love the Edwardian look because of how soft and flowing it is. You see it in the dresses, but also in the poofy hairstyles, in the graceful lines of art nouveau designs,...a very stylish era. And I think soft pink is the best colour for emphasizing it (even though bright spring green is actually my favourite colour).
Well, what can I say more? Except, again, THANK YOU SO MUCH! :tighthug:

And I can do no better than to second every single word you have said about the Edwardian looks. It is certainly my favourite era besides Victorian era...

Huzzah, I do certainly look forward very much to your new design!! A hint as to the epoch maybe? :woohoo:

I know I'm repeating myself, but...thank you!
And I made you happy! :hooray: That's what I always wish for, to be able to make people happy with what I create. But since historical fashion designs are hardly the most emotional works of art, it doesn't happen all that often. ;)
Hm, a hint...It's something that I haven't tried before because I used to dislike the era's fashions. But lately I've become more interested in the whole epoch because I listened to some great music that took inspiration from this decade and seen some amazing dance videos. And now I actually really like some of the dress styles. Still not my favourite era, but very interesting and very different.

I love the Edwardian era, so this really pleases me! The colours are soft and you got the translucency very well.. :tribute:
