Romantic Lilac Dress

Description

Another commission, another historical fashion design. It's been a while.
This is my interpretation of :iconalexandra-chan:'s character Winifred Hambley, a lady from 1830s/1840s Gloucestershire.
The "romantic" part of the title refers to the Romantic Era (ca. 1820s-1850s), not neccessarily the impression of the dress. There aren't many period movies set during this era, I suspect it's because the giant poofy sleeves of the day dresses worn back then are not to most people's tastes. Evening gowns of this era had shorter sleeves and were prettier, IMO. The most recent famous period piece set during the Romantic Era is "The Young Victoria" (which I haven't seen yet).
The dress is a ball gown or evening dress. Unlike day dresses, ball gowns during that time were not usually worn with bonnets, but :iconalexandra-chan: drew her with a bonnet and after finding a few contemporary paintings that depicted ladies in short-sleeved dresses wearing bonnets, I decided to keep it.
I also turned the random flowers scattered over the dress in the original design into lilac blossoms because it fit well with the purple and because I love floral designs. Other than that, I stayed true to the original design.

The texture is mine.

This design is lovely. Everything about it is beautiful. Of course I love the bow at the top.
