Sofiero Flower Bed

This is a painting of a flower bed in the palace garden of Sofiero castle in Scania, southern Sweden.
The palace garden is really, really beautiful, especially in summer. The day I took the photo on which I based my painting, a huge thunderstorm was on its way and the sky got dark and stormy, but the remaining sunlight made the flowers glow and it looked magic against the dark clouds.
I wished I had been able to capture that mood.

The painting was another school project.
We were supposed to paint a landscape in the impressionist style (think Claude Monet) using acrylic on canvas.
This was my first time using acrylic paint seriously, my first time painting on canvas, my first time painting a landscape seriously and my first time trying to paint in the impressionist style.
Given that I had virtually no idea how to do this, I'm happy with the result.
